When do you need large-parcel shipping?

⚖️
Parcels over 30–40 kg

Standard parcel carriers impose weight limits (in most cases 30–40 kg per package). Van carriers accept parcels of any weight — even 100, 200 or 500 kg.

📏
Bulky dimensions

Long, wide or awkward parcels (pipes, panels, frames, sports equipment) that parcel services refuse or charge with heavy "oversize" surcharges.

🏭
Palletised goods

Shipping goods on euro pallets for businesses and professionals — single pallets or part loads, without a contractual commitment to a freight forwarder.

🛋️
Fragile contents

Furniture, household appliances, works of art, electronics — items you don't want to entrust to the conveyor belt of a sorting centre, but to a person who transports them door to door.

Sending large parcels — why van transport instead of a parcel service?

With standard parcel carriers, a large parcel means surcharges for weight and "oversize", expensive insurance and a risk of damage in sorting centres. Van carriers take the parcel directly door to door, without transhipment — and because they are frequently looking for loads for their return trips, the price for large parcels can even be lower than the parcel service.

Sending large parcels across Europe

The most frequent routes are London – Paris, Berlin – Vienna, Amsterdam – Berlin and Zagreb – Munich, but carriers cover the whole of Europe every day — from Lisbon to Helsinki, across every border. Post a request with the exact pick-up and delivery location, and carriers that already drive that route will contact you.

How much does it cost to send a large parcel?

The price depends on the weight, the dimensions and the route. As a guide: moderately sized bulky parcels on routes within a country are between 20 and 60 €, heavier parcels and pallets between 40 and 100 €, and cross-border shipments between European cities typically between 60 and 200 €, depending on the distance. You learn the exact price through concrete offers — by comparing several offers, the saving can be considerable, especially if your parcel fits into a return trip.

How to prepare a large parcel for shipping?

Measure the exact dimensions (length × width × height) and the weight — a more precise request means more precise offers. Wedge the contents inside the packaging so that they cannot move, protect corners and edges with cardboard or bubble wrap, and if possible place heavier parcels on a pallet — they are easier to load and safer during the journey. Write the address and contact details directly on the parcel and photograph it before handover.

Frequently asked questions / FAQ

How much does it cost to send large parcels in Europe?
As a guide, 20 to 60 € for bulky parcels and 40 to 100 € for heavier parcels and pallets within a country, and 60 to 200 € for cross-border shipments, depending on the route and dimensions. You learn the exact amount through the concrete offers received on your request — posting a request is free.
Is there a weight or size limit?
No — unlike parcel services (in most cases limited to 30–40 kg), van and truck carriers accept parcels of any weight and any dimensions, including palletised goods.
How long does delivery of a large parcel take?
Within a country, in most cases 1 to 3 days from agreement, and between European countries 2 to 7 days, depending on the route. If the parcel fits into a trip the carrier has already planned, delivery can even take place the same day.
Is the parcel insured during transport?
Professional carriers have goods-in-transit insurance — offers with an insurance policy show the green "Insured transport" badge. Photograph valuable contents before handover.
Can I send a parcel to the UK, Switzerland or Norway?
Yes — state the exact destination in your request; carriers that drive these routes will contact you. Allow a somewhat longer delivery time for customs formalities outside the EU customs area.
